7th Grade survey - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CZCPDZ2
4/17/14 (thursday)
Have a great Easter weekend!
Just as a Reminder: TEST NEXT WEEK ON ALL 5 UNITS OF HUMAN BODY.
A Day - Test on Wednesday
B Day - Test on Thursday
* Study ALL of the powerpoints and that one document of reading I put in "Quarter 4." If you complete that review sheet for the Test, then you will have points added onto your test and you will be able to use those notes on your Test.
* Note: It is NOT mandatory that you complete the review sheet, but I would HIGHLY suggest it! It will DEFINITELY bring your grade up on the Test, but it must be FULLY complete in order to use the review sheet on the Test. You need to either type or hand write your answers in a legible way. If I cannot read your hand writing, then I am not sure you will be able to read your own.
* Before I administer the Test next week, I will check a head of time to see that you have the review sheet completely filled out! I would recommend to just work on a little bit EVERY DAY and that will help you to not feel overwhelmed! If you have any questions please email me at: [email protected]! Thanks!

3/7/14 (friday)
Parents... we are running low on school supplies. Make sure that your child has all the things they need. Paper, PENCILS, colored pencils, glue sticks, notebooks, etc... Also, any donations of school supplies for the classroom would be GREATLY appreciated!
2/20/14 (thursday)
Notebook Checklist #1 is due tomorrow for my morning classes (Periods 1 and 2). Periods 6 and 7 (afternoon classes) will have theirs due on Monday and Tuesday of next week (depending upon which day you have me).
2/6/14 (Thursday)
Good afternoon! A couple quick reminders. Your test corrections for the Genetic Test are due by tomorrow unless I just handed your test back to you today or if you were at the Beta Convention. If you are in either one of those categories then your test corrections will be due by next Tuesday, 2/11/14. Also, I added "Q3" (Quarter 3) tab and have put in the first few weeks of material that we are going over in there. If any of the material is not present than that means that I do not have a digital copy of it.
12/13/13 (Friday)
We have been working this week on the Mitosis vs. Meiosis Essay. The final draft is due on Wednesday (12/18/13) for A Day and Thursday (12/19/13) for B Day. Make sure you include your graphic organizer, instruction sheet, rough draft, and grading rubric with your final draft. After I grade your essays, you will be able to glue the papers into your notebook.
12/3/13 (Tuesday)
Progress Reports will be sent home with the students on Friday, December 6th.
12/2/13 (Monday)
Welcome back to school Carroll Cougars! I hope you all had a fantastic holiday break and are well rested for this week. I just want to remind you that your Cell Project is due by this Friday, December 6th! Make sure you turn your project in with the rubric. I have had a few students ask how their project should look when completed. I advised these students to go to www.google.com (click on "images") and type in the type of project that they did in order to see what other students have done in the past. For example, if you did "Plant Cell Analogies Project," you should be able to type it into google.com and then click on images in order to see what comes up. If you chose to do a 3D Plant or Animal Cell that should work too. The Cell Board game project is really the only one that does not have a lot of images to actually see what other students have done. If you wish to see one, I have a few examples in the classroom and so just ask me in class.
11/15/13 (Friday)
Good afternoon Cougars! We had a great week learning about the Cell Theory and the Organelles in the Cells. We are going to be getting ready next week for our first unit test of the second quarter that will be on Friday, 11/22/13! Please use all of my resources in "Q2" tab to help you study and get ready for it. I would recommend looking at the videos, pictures, and powerpoints in order to help you get ready! We will play some review games next week and do more activities with the organelles. But......as always when it comes down to it, the work you do outside of the classroom will determine how well you are prepared for the TEST! STUDY HARD! :)

Good afternoon Carroll Cougars! I just wanted to remind you to ALWAYS check my "Announcements" and "Q2" tabs in order to see what current material I have put on there. I just put up the new project assignment that I will be handing out in the classroom Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.
It will be due on December 6th, 2013!

Good afternoon Carroll Cougars! I would just like to say that today and yesterday have been a GREAT start to the 2nd Quarter. I have spoken with ALL of my classes about staying on top of their notebooks and I am already noticing a remarkable improvement! They seem to be more focused and it is easier for them to navigate what items need to be glued on each page. A GREAT start to the 2nd quarter! I am very proud of all of them. This quarter will be focusing on cells - microorganisms, organelles (ex: mitochondria, nucleus, etc.), and the levels of organization in the system. At the beginning of December we will switch and start talking about genetics and have a fun time with it! PLEASE MAKE SURE TO HAVE YOUR STUDENT GET A NEW NOTEBOOK FOR SCIENCE ASAP! I had many of my students come to class yesterday and today without NEW notebooks. The pace will pick up quick and I do not want them to feel overwhelmed by not being organized. Thank you for your support and I look forward to a great 2nd Quarter!

10/24/13:
* Remember that tomorrow is the FINAL DAY that I can take any late/missing work. If it is not turned in by tomorrow then you will get an automatic 60% on that assignment.
ALSO......REMEMBER that the 2nd quarter starts on Tuesday!
*Students need a new spiral notebook for Science for each quarter, so if you have not turned on in yet please get one this weekend!
*Parents we are in desperate need of gluesticks...ANY donation would be GREATLY appreciated!
10/3/13: REMIND 101
I set up an account with REMIND 101 in order to send out reminder texts to you when we have quizzes, tests, projects, and labs that we are doing either in class or due dates. The students and parents can both sign up to get those texts by doing the following:
*Text "@cougarscw" to the #: (919) 267-2576. It will invite you to join the group and then you will automatically get texts from me for REMINDERS!
GOOOO COUGARS! :)
ATTENTION!
(9/25/13):
* Interims will go home on October 1st. I am going to be out of town on Friday (9/27) and will not be able to hand them out then!
* Make sure that you get the pink sheet of paper for Home Base Portal in order to see your students' grades. In my L.E.A.D class (mostly 1st period A Day) I have only had two students turn in the Home Base pieces of paper. The parent must turn it in to the front office and show their picture ID or have it notorized in order to get a password to view their students' grades online. Thanks!
